New Disability Assistance Programme Launched to Support Persons with Disabilities

The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services has launched a comprehensive new Disability Assistance Programme designed to provide enhanced support services and resources for persons with disabilities across Trinidad and Tobago.

This expanded programme represents a significant increase in government support, with an allocated budget of $5 million for the first year of implementation.

Programme Components

• Monthly financial assistance grants ranging from $500 to $1,500
• Subsidized assistive devices and mobility equipment
• Home modification support for accessibility improvements
• Transportation assistance for medical appointments and therapy sessions
• Caregiver support and respite services

The programme also includes a dedicated case management system, ensuring that each registered individual receives personalized support tailored to their specific needs and circumstances.
